The State of Autism in RSA
The current statistics of autism worldwide indicates that the number of children diagnosed with autism as 1 in every 100 (L. Jacklin 2011). International trends show that the prevalence of autism is increasing annually as a larger number of people are being diagnosed as having an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
South Africa is presently making use of the international rate of prevalence as there are no known accurate local statistics in our own country which are relevant to all walks of society.
